About Us

Peninsula Academy of Music Arts is located at 1662 Mills Road in North Saanich BC, minutes from Sidney, Saanichton, and Brentwood Bay. We offer music lessons on all instruments with 21 qualified teachers in 9 sound designed studios. In 2012 we moved Sidney Musicworks into the student store of the Academy. We now provide for all of you musical needs right in the school.



How We Started

Lloyd and Diana English

After studying,performing,teaching and recording in Vancouver and Toronto we moved to Sidney and began teaching in the North Saanich/Sidney area in 1987 as well as in Lloyd's private studio called "the Guitar Studio" located on Fort St. in downtown Victoria. We both performed regularly throughout the Victoria area in our own groups while at the same time freelancing, recording and taking various directing positions.

In 2001 we opened Sidney Musicworks on 5th Street in Sidney and the 4 teaching studios in the store quickly became booked and so in 2009 we decided to build PAMA in the old Legion building on Mills Road. This gave us the space we needed to grow while at the same time providing a facility specifically designed and zoned to house a music school.

The Academy offers the finest instruction both in the Classical and Popular styles with carefully chosen instructors, many of whom have been with us for many years going back to when we were teaching at the Sidney Musicworks Store location. Our instructors are active professional performers and recording artists and many hold College and University degrees.

We strive to make music not only educational but fun for students of all ages from our Pre-School childrens programs to our seniors programs. Our goal is to introduce music into the lives of as many people within our community as possible so that they might know the lifelong benefits of being a participant in music making.

The school offers full time reception as well as parking for 30 cars and a student waiting area/lounge as well as our new performance and workshops room that seats up to 40 people comfortably. We sponsor several recitals yearly including our year end recital and support and provide our students with other performance opportunities including our PAMA compilation CD as well as numerous other opportunities in the community through special events.

It is our mission to enhance and promote the arts and music culture on the Peninsula by providing the best in affordable music education for students of all ages. Music is an essential part of a life fully lived and we feel privileged to be a part of that in our students lives right here on the Peninsula.
